Authentic Worship
I was just pondering the idea of what worship is in my life. That thought ALWAYS leads me right back to Romans 12 (the whole chapter really, but especially the first two verses). Check it out:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2, NIV)
As a worship leader, authentic worship takes effect once I step down off of the stage. Living the words I sing about in my songs are vital to being a worshipper. What happens onstage is an overflow of the spiritual deposits that are made when no one's listening or looking and it's just you and God.
