Can't Kick the Habit?

Every time I open up the "GOOD book" I recognize a new BAD habit. As is in life, I can easily disregard the habit but it is hardly easy to ignore it. Even if I opt toward denial, there's always that one honest, caring person placed in my life to help bring balance.

God cares so much for us that He desires that we live balanced lives. True balance is found only through the Word of God. Perhaps for you, going to the Word of God is a lot like going to the local mechanic - He's always gonna find something that needs to be either replaced, repaired, or restored. Usually attached to that is a cost - time, money, and energy. So, we get into the bad habit of 'putting things off'.

Recently I found myself sitting at Firestone getting four new tires after putting it off for about a month. My front two tires were finally down to the wire, literally. Despite the warning signs I still kept putting the tires and the oil change off - that is until I counted the true cost. My tire could have easily exploded like someone I know who will go unnamed (lol) or my engine could have burned out like it did in the first car I ever owned in 1993. Why? For putting off buying new tires and not getting an oil change.

Bad habits may seem tough to break but consider the cost. Consider trading off the bad ones for good ones - reading the Word, praying more, loving others, living at peace with your loved ones and friends, etc.

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 1-3.
