Surrender, Eric Lige
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live,
But Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and
Delivered Himself up for me.”
Galatians 2:20
I got up at 4:30 a.m. this morning and took a two-hour walk
with God. Now before you start thinking what a super spiritual
being I must be, just know that the only time this nocturnal
soul sees 4:30 a.m. is when I am either set to head out for an
early morning airport jaunt or when I am more likely turning
over to finish off another few rounds of sleep after a long night’s
bout with fighting it. As much as I would have loved for sleep
to have been considered in the line-up when spiritual gifts were
being dished out, there is nothing divine about an airport run
or tossing in the middle of the night. However, when God
drops in and gently nudges my heart at a time where no one
else would dare to, it probably means it’s the only time He
could find in my “busy” day to hang out. We are faced with a
spiritual struggle everyday that is reflected in our physical
responses to God’s constant nudges. Our act of surrendering
is the realization that because Christ lives in us, it is He
who works through us to fulfill His purpose on the earth.
